Legends Perform together in Bengaluru

As part of the silver jubilee celebrations of Abhinava Dance Academy, (Bangalore) two days grand festival of classical dances known as Parva will be held at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall in Bangalore on 14 and 15th February and the highlight of the festival is that two legendary exponents Pandit Birju Maharaj and Dr Padma Subrahmanyam will share the same platform.

Abhinava Dance Academy is headed by renowned Kathak exponents Nirupama and Rajendra who has performed for some of the most prestigious festivals both in India and abroad. Besides the technical excellence, the performance of the husband and wife duo is marked for their aesthetic quality and fine finesse which is the hallmark of their unique performance. Dancing for more than three decades together, they take the legacy forward by imparting training to young aspirants at their dance academy known as Abhinava.

On 14th February is the unique fantasy of Valmiki Ramayana performed in the Walt Disney style by a group of talented male and female performers and the performance is known ‘Rama Katha Vismaya’.

On 15th February, the morning session known as ‘Tha-Dheem’ would feature acclaimed speakers like Pt Birju Maharaj, Dr R Ganesh, Dr Padma Subrahmanyam, Saroj Khan, Rajeev Menon, Pravin Godkhindi, Praveen D. Rao and Rajkumar Bharati, they would speak on the varied technical aspects of dance and different perspectives of dance and the performing arts. and the evening session would be the performance by Pt Birju Maharaj and Dr Padma Subrahmanyam.

Rajendra of Abhinava Dance Academy says, “The silver jubilee is rare occasion of accomplishment for an academy and we would like to share our experience with everyone in a different and unique way, hence we have invited cultural and musical personalities to speak about their experience so that we can gain some knowledge from their expertise”.
