Samruddhi’s Debut Performance

Shantala Arts Academy (Bengaluru) proudly presents the Bharata Natya Rangarohana, debut performance by Samruddhi P Kasturi, daughter and disciple of Guru Kalayogi Pulikeshi Kasturi on Saturday 1st March at the iconic Chowdiah memorial auditorium, Malleswaram in Bengaluru. With the blessings of elders and distinguished guests and the audience, Samruddhi will perform selected compositions from the Bharata Natya repertoire with sincerity and devotion.

Since the tender age of hardly two years, little Samruddhi was initiated to this divine art form of Bharata Natyam. Her grandfather vidwan Raghusutha was an eminent writer in Kannada and her grandmother K R Padmaje was also an author and social worker. Her uncle Prasanna and aunty Seema are devoted artists of Bharata Natyam and Carnatic music. With the typical atmosphere of classical music and dance, Samruddhi developed a natural inclination for performing arts, she has already completed her Visharada Prathama from Akhil Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and is a student of MES Kishore Kendra in Malleswaram, Bangalore, she participated in the dance drama “Chandramukhi” directed by Dr Kashyap and has already performed for several social and religious organisations for various prestigious festivals and is also a student of Carnatic music.

Samruddhi will perform her debut performance in the presence of distinguished personalities like veteran Bharata Natyam danseuse and mentor, Dr Lalitha Srinivasan, Principal of MES Kishore Kendra –Padmaja B, President of Shantala Arts Academy –Prof M R Kamala, Eminent arts critic of Mumbai and Kuchipudi exponent – Guru Vijay Shanker.

Samruddhi who is good in her academic studies says “Most students feel that classical dance is a distraction and would disturb their academic pursuits but I think differently as I know that classical dance is a unique form of mind conditioning, concentration and recreation that energies u to a supreme level of consciousness, taking u closer to the Almighty,hence classical dance is the expression of the soul and the varied movements and expressions are the medium to reach out to the sublime level of awareness”
