65th Swami Haridas Sammelan in Mumbai

Mumbai’s leading cultural organisation, Sur Singar Samsad has organised the 65th Swami Haridas Sammelan in Mumbai which will commence on Saturday 29th to 31st March at Nanavati College Campus auditorium, Vile Parle West. With the collaboration of Nanavati Performing and Fine Arts Forum and with the support from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the three days festival of classical dancers would feature top classical dancers from across the country.

The festival would commence with Manipuri dance by Poushali Chatterjee from Kolkata and guest performance by veteran Manipuri exponent Padmashree Darshana Jhaveri. The highlight of the first day will be the “Stree Vesham” portrayal in the Kuchipudi style by Ajay Kumar from Vijayawada , Andhra Pradesh. The first day performance concludes with Kathak duet by Guru Rekha Nadgauda and Aditi Panse from Nashik.

The second day would feature the exquisite classical dance of Orissa, Odissi duet by Guru Pratibha Jena Singh and Raudri Singh from New Delhi. The only Sattriya dancer of the festival Prateesha Suresh will enchant you with her elegant moves. Dr Tina Tambe will enthrall the spectators with her rhythmic excellence in the Kathak style. Tina is a mentor too and the Artistic Director of Ninad Centre of Performing Arts in Mumbai

The three day finale performances would feature one of the senior most Kathak exponents of the country Padmashree Sunayana Hazarilal and her talented disciples and live musical orchestra lead by Pt Kalinath Mishra on Tabla, Somnath Mishra for vocal and Alka Gujar for Sitar. SNA awardee and veteran mentor Guru Deepak Mazumdar will elevate the audience with his powerful Bharatanatyam performance. The graceful and lyrical Odissi will be performed by Jeet Ghosh from Kolkata forming the grand finale.

The distinguished guests of the festival includes veteran mentor, Guru Kalyansundaram Pillai of Sri Rajajrajeswari Bharata Natya Kala Mandir, Padmashree Darshana Jhaveri and Dilip Shinde(IAS).
