Lalgudi Trust is organising is organizing the 2nd and 3rd series of workshops on late violinist Lalgudi Jayaraman’s compositions, after the success of 1st edition held in July. The event is being managed by Shreya Nagarajan Singh Arts consultancy to help support artistes in need. The trust and SNS arts consultancy will give 50% of the funds to artistes in financial distress.
During the workshop, Lalgudi siblings GJR Krishnan and Vijayalakshmi will teach some of the maestro’s Thillanas and Varnams.
While the 2nd edition will be on from 31st July till 2nd August, the 3rd edition will be on from 7th August to 9th August. These workshops are being held for a social-cause. 50 per cent of the proceeds from this workshop will be given to artistes who are financially distressed. For now, SNS Arts Consultancy is targeting instrument makers, classical and folk artistes to support. For the 2nd edition, 3 artistes have been zeroed in on who will be sent the amount collected through this workshop.
If you’d like to be part of this, fill in the google forms and send an audio clipping. This will help Vijayalakshmi and Krishnan select the artistes. 30 participants per workshop will be entertained. Selected artistes will be intimated one day before the workshop begins. The fees for the workshop is Rs 5000 for Indian and for foreigners $100.

All workshops will be between 8 and 9.30 PM Indian time. Make sure you’ve trained for at least five years in Carnatic music or any instrument.
