Arham to present “Kirtankars”, a Jain Bhakti Ensemble

Indian Classical Dances, rightly called Temple Dances, have been performed in Hindu Temples since time immemorial. Taking a step further in this direction, two classical dancers from Mumbai, Dhruvi Jaiin & Khushboo Shah have conceived a production company “Arham Productions”. It focuses on Jainism & Jain Literature. Applying their core competence  in Odissi & Bharatanatyam Dance forms respectively, as well as their knowledge in Jainism, these young artists have laid a foundation  by performing in the praise of Jain deities fondly pronounced as Tirthankaras Rishabhdev & Mahavir, a venture explored by very few.

The premise for this idea came from the conventional notion of experiencing devotion in Jainism only through music and singing. Traditionally, in all Jain events, singers with live musicians are called to evoke Bhakti. Rewriting this trend and clamping various other religious barriers, Dhruvi & Khushboo, co-founders of Arham Productions, present “Kirtankars”. It is a two hour Jain Devotional Ensemble featuring Indian Classical Dance forms such as Odissi and Bharatanatyam as well as devotional songs sung live by Viral Surana, a renowned singer based out of Mumbai. Passionate Kirtankars or story-tellers will narrate their adoration towards Jain Mythology in a medium they truly believe in.

This amalgamation of dance & music will be further enhanced by the words of Neel Shah, yet another passionate Kirtankar who truly believes that Jain Philosophy is relevant and scientific in this day and age.
