Nritya Tarangini International Dance and Music Festival in Mumbai

Saraswathy Kala Kendra

Saraswathy Kala Kendra and Research Centre has organised the annual Nritya Tarangini Utsav, two days International Dance and Music Festival on 30th and 31st March 2025 at the exquisite Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium, in Mira Road, Mumbai. This yearly festival attracts the attention of dancers and musicians from across the country and abroad too. The festival is a fine combination of up coming artists and established performers, in order to encourage arts and to promote artists as well.

Accomplished Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi exponent, Natya Saraswati Guru Subitha Murali heads the Saraswathy Kala Kendra and Research Centre which has been fruitfully functioning for over three decades Saraswathy Kala Kendra was established in the year 1992-93 and is affiliated to Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal and is member of IWCF International Council of Dance, France, UNESCO. Saraswathy Kala Kendra trains students to qualify for certificate courses, diploma, visharad and Teachers training course, thus aims to develop the Institute as centre of learning dance forms. Along with her students, Guru Subitha has performed for several prestigious organisations and occasions all over India and overseas too. Subitha was bestowed with the prestigious title of Perfect Women Mrs India Intellectual 2018 as part of the Women Empowerment programme organised by Perfect Women magazine.

Besides the presentation of several classical and folk dances, the festival is organised mainly to encourage young talent as platforms for young performers are not easily available. Guru Subitha says “This festival will not be possible without the support from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, as the expenses are enormous and there is hardly any support from the corporate sector. We encourage maximum participation in order to encourage classical dancers and musicians, the performers are honoured and also provided with a participation certificate which is quite encouraging for them. With better support I could organise the festival in a bigger scale for which I solicit the support of all art lovers”.

Besides the participation of several performers, some established performers like Dr Vineela Rao for Kuchipudi and Pretileka Chaudhary for Odissi and Sattriya dance from Meghalaya will be the highlight of the festival. Chief guests of the festival includes Transport Minister Partap Sarnaik, Fastest Keyboard player Stephen Devassy, Dilip Shinde (IAS), Kuchipudi exponent and latest recipient of Kanaka Nartana Puraskar Guru Vijay Shanker and other distinguished guests.
