Mumbai-based NrityaSmriti and NataRavi have organized Puru Arpan, an evening of performance tribute to Dr Puru Dadheech on 18 Aug 2023. Dr Puru Dadheech and his wife Dr Vibha Dadheech have been visionary kathak artists who have brought forth many textual traditions of kathak, revived the temple tradition of kathak and been fountainheads for the establishment of academia in performing arts.
The event will feature iconic compositions written by Dr Puru Dadheech such as Kali Stavan performed by Damyanti Bhatia Miradwal from Indore and Parvati Parinay performed by Dr Piyush Raj and Sunil Sunkara. Bringing the flavours of Maharashtra, Smriti Talpade and disciples will perform Nandi, Taal Basant and Bhairavi Abhang. Neha Banerjee from Chennai will present Shankar Parvati Nartan, while Riddhi Mishra will present Madhurastakam. Sheetal Talpade Ji’s group Rangved will present an ode to the unknown female warriors of India while Odissi exponents Mitali Varadkar and Shreya Sabharwal will present a unique Tripureshwari Pallavi. Harshita Sharma Dadheech will also perform on this occasion.
The event will be held at Kala Vaibhav Auditorium in Vile Parle East, Mumbai.
