Sare Jahan Se Achha – Celebrating 15 Years of Utsav’s Festival

Established by globally renowned Odissi dancer Smt Ranjana Gauhar, 33 years old Utsav Educational and Cultural Society is celebrating 15th year of its Classical Dance Festival “Sare Jahan Se Achha” on 13-14-15th Aug 2020.

Various activities organized by Utsav provides an opportunity to hundreds of artists and musicians to showcase their talent.

The festival is being aired on Ranjana Gauhar’s of Facebook page, Youtube channel and Instagram at 7 pm every day from 13th to 15th August 2020.

Today, on 13th August, 2020, Smt. Meera Das (Odissi)  and Avijit Das (Kuchipudi) presented their performances while renowned photographer Inni Singh delivered a Talk on Dance photography. 

Meera Das is a disciple of Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and Padmasree Guru Gangadhar Pradhan, and is among the accomplished solo Odissi dancer and a creative choreographer of the present time.

Avijit Das, a student of Smt. Sanaka Biswas of Shanti Niketan, Vedantam Ramu, Srimayi Vempatti Garu and legendary Kuchipudi exponent Smt. Manju Bharggavee, Sri Jaikishore Mosalikanti and Padmavani Mosalikanti Garu, Avijit is also has a Diploma in Carnatic music. He has performed extensively in many dance festivals in India and abroad.

The second day of the festival will feature dances by Divya Goswami Dixit (Kathak) and Gaurie Dwivedi. Sidharth Daniels will deliver a talk on Videography and Video Editing.

Divya Goswami Dixit was initiated into the Lucknow Gharana of Kathak under the Guru Yogini Gandhi and continued her lessons from Guru Munna Shukla Ji. Having a good command over both, the rhythmic (nritta) and emotive (nritya) aspects, she has been bestowed with ‘Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Purushkar’ by the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi.

Trained in Bharatanatyam and Odissi, Gaurie Dwivedi is a disciple of Guru Ipsita Behoora and Padma Vibhushan Yamini Krishnamoorthy (Bharatanatyam) and learning Odissi under the tutelage of Guru Sujata Mohapatra.

On the final day i.e. 15th August, Odissi Dancer Debashish Pattnaik and Guru Ranjana Gauhar and Utsav Repertory will make their presentations and talk on stage lighting will be presented by Sandeep Dutta.

Debashish Pattnaik, an Odissi dancer and a gold medalist in Nrutyabhaskar has been trained under the late Guru Shri Kashinatha Roul and is getting expert guidance of Guru Shri Durga Charan Ranbir. 

Ranjana’s Odissi Dance Academy which focuses on shaping young and promising artists who are part of the Academy’s repertory. The repertory has given several impressive performances at prestigious festivals in India and abroad such as the inaugural performance at The Festival of India in countries such as South Korea, France, Egypt, Serbia, Argentina and many more.
