The Maya Somaiya School of Music & Performing Arts, a distinguished division of Somaiya Vidyavihar University, is thrilled to unveil the inaugural ‘Somaiya Music Festival’. Slated for the 19th and 20th of October 2023, the event will take place at the Smt. Sakarben Karmshi Somaiya Sabhagriha, situated on the scenic Vidyavihar Campus in Mumbai.
The festival will span from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm on each day, featuring a stellar ensemble of eminent and emerging talents in the sphere of Indian classical music. The curtain-raiser ceremony will be officiated by Chancellor Shri Samir Somaiya and esteemed Chief Guest Professor V. N. Rajasekharan Pillai, the Vice-Chancellor of the university. Notable Guru Pt. Arun Dravid will be adorning the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
Day One: A Reverberating Start
The opening day of the festival, 19th October 2023, will commence with a soul-stirring invocation by Smt. Suneeta Gangrade. Audiences will be captivated by the vocal virtuosity of Dr. Rahul Prakash, the mellifluous flute renditions by Pandit Vivek Sonar, and the poignant vocalizations by Vidushi Ashwini Bhide Deshpande.
Day Two: A Continuation of Musical Brilliance
The odyssey of music extends into the 20th of October with an opening prayer by Smt. Savita Moghe. The day promises to be equally entrancing, featuring performances by Vidushi Meeta Pandit (Vocal), Ustad Taufiq Qureshi (Djembe), and Pandit Vidyadhar Vyas (Vocal).
