Rare ragas to light up the skies by Pandit Sharad Sathe

Pt. Sharad Sathe

Soulful music does mellow with age and the most momentous example of this would be living legend Pandit Sharad Sathe. Master Khayal vocalist of the Gwalior Gharana, the 86-year-old, Pandit Sathe is one of our last few Hindustani musicians with a connection to the glorious past of Classical music in Mumbai.

So, it will be a musical treat then to see him serenade the skies with a concert in Mumbai.

At the Night Sky concert at G5A Black Box Theatre in Mahalakshmi curated by First Edition Arts, he will present a special late – night concert which will begin at 8.30 pm and continue till 11.30 pm.

The evening will see the maestro, presenting rare compositions of the night ragas that are a rarity in concerts these days. The night promises to blend in the Hindustani Khyal music in a rare mastery that will serenade lovers of both classical as well as music lovers across genres.

But perhaps that is the magic that you can expect when you have a musician of high caliber such as Pandit Sathe. Panditji is widely respected as a Gwalior Gharana maestro with a lifetime of dedicated study of Khayal music, a universally loved form of Hindustani music rich in subtle artistry and improvisation.
