In a landmark celebration of Indian classical music and dance, the URise Vedic Sangeetha Academy (UVSA) is set to host its Silver Jubilee with a grand two-day event, URise Utsav, on the 25th and 26th of November, 2023, at the Viveka Auditorium in Jayanagar, Bangalore. This event marks a significant milestone for UVSA, renowned for fostering and nurturing the rich traditions of Indian classical art forms.
The festivity will kick off with a unique array of performances, showcasing a blend of established and emerging talents in the field. Highlighting the event’s first day is the Surabhi Award Ceremony, a prestigious occasion honoring 50 individuals who have remarkably contributed to the music and dance sphere. This includes 15 distinguished musicians, 15 esteemed dance personalities, and 20 art connoisseurs, technicians, and supportive parents of young artists.
A centerpiece of the celebration is the renowned Tarang festival, held on the 26th morning, which this year features the theme ‘Jugalbandhi,’ a beautiful interplay of music and dance. The festival will also host the 20th Taranga Kala Ratna Award ceremony, recognizing the extraordinary contributions of Shri Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma and Shri Tirumale Srinivas in music, and Smt. Bragha Bessell in dance.
In a special gesture to honor the foundational figures in the realms of Geetham (music) and Natyam (dance), UVSA will confer the titles of Urise Sangeetha Pitamaha and URISE Nruthya Pitamaha to Shri A.V Anand and Shri Venu G, respectively. This tribute underscores their invaluable mentorship and guidance in nurturing countless students and artists.
The event, starting at 9 am on the 26th, is set to unfold in Bangalore’s Viveka Auditorium, Yuvapatha, marking a significant chapter in the journey of UVSA and the Indian classical arts community.
