Saraswathy Kala Kendra and Research Centre (Mira Road) presented the Bharatanatyam Arangetram of three senior disciples, Venkatesh Murali Kumar, Maitree Shastri and Disha Poojary at the beautiful Lata Mangeshkar auditorium in Mira Road on Sunday 10th August. Saraswathy Kala Kendra is headed by accomplished Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi exponent Natya Sharada Guru Subitha Murali. Saraswathy Kala Kendra is functioning for over three decades, besides teaching dance to many dance aspirants, festivals are also organised attracting the attention of performers from India and abroad.

The repertoire included Ananda Nartanam Ganapatim, Gambhira Nattai Alarippu,Hindolam Jaitswaram, Adi Shankaracharya’s Devi Keertanam. Shabdam, Natesha Kautavam, Shankarabharanam Varnam of Tanjore quartet, Swati Thirunal’s Chaliye Kunjana Mohan, Dayananda Saraswati’s Bho Shambho, Purandarsa’s Bhagyada Lakshmi and the finale Ragamalika Thillana. While it was interesting to watch the trio dancing with lot of enthusiasm and excitement, Venakatesh is the son and disciple of Guru Subitha Murali and has been leaning dance from attender age, while Venkatesh was vivacious in the rendering of the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva in Bho Shambho, Maitree was graceful in the “sringara” number in which Radha entices Krishna to proceed to the garden in Vrindavana and Disha succeeded in establishing the divine power of the goddess. The compere of the evening was Murali Kumar.

The dancers received fine orchestral support from Guru Subitha Murali on nattuvangam, vocal by  Sangeetha MT, mridangam by  Shravan S.P, violin by Balasubramaniam and flute by Raghavendra. The distinguished guests of the evening included veteran Tabla maestro Pt Balakrishna Iyer, veteran announcer Anand Singh and Kuchipudi exponent and eminent arts critic Guru Vijay Shanker.
