Saraswati Kala Kendra and Research Centre(Mira Road) has organised Nritya Tarangini Utsav on 31st January and 1st Feb at the exquisite Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium in Mira Road, Mumbai.
This is an annual festival that attracts the attention of young dance aspirants and professionals too. Besides performances by professionals, competition is also held in order to bring out the best talents who in the near future are likely to represent India’s rich cultural heritage on the global platform. Dancers in various styles like Bharata Natyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam, Kathak, Odissi, Manipuri, Kerala Nadanam and Sattriya participate in the solo, duet and group category. Folk dances and for the first time western and contemporary dance has also been included, in order to expand the spectrum and also to encourage children and youth in different styles with a modern and contemporary perspective.
Director of Saraswati Kala Kendra founded in 1992, Natya Saraswati Guru Subitha Murali says ”This festival is a big success as I get wonderful response from dancers from India and overseas, as there are hardly any platforms available for young dance aspirants, hence this is a fine platform,to exhibit your talent. We also invite professional to perform as they really inspire young children to do well. Parents are so excited to see their children perform as its a life time chance for them to perform. In the competition section various prizes are distributed according to their calibre and performance judged by professionals in the field. The best part is that all the participants are given participation certificate which is important and quite encouraging for the children”. This initiative is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and the Department of Culture, Government of Maharashtra.
Some of the professionals who would participate in the festival are Monojit Saha, A grade Bharata Natyam artist from Kolkata, Odissi by Kiran Khade from Odisha, Fine Bharata natyam dancer from Bangalore – Srusti Joshi. Shreya Joshi and Varanya Sinha for Kathak. Anuradha Roy for Kathak from Kolkata, Meenakshi Acharya for Sattriya, Guru Garima Sharma for Kathak, disciple of Pt Rajendra Gangani. Krityea N Rana, Odissi dancer from Mumbai, disciple of Guru Rabindra Atibudhi and several others. Do not miss this wonderful extravaganza of music and dance for two days.
