Leading cultural organisation of western suburbs of Mumbai, Sam Ved Society of Performing Arts has organized Pandit Durgalal Smruti Samaroh as a tribute to the great torch bearer of the Jaipur Gharana of Kathak- Pt Durgalal on 20th February at the Veer Savarkar auditorium in Shivaji Park, Dadar with the classical dance performances by two brilliant classical dancers, Pooja Pant in the Kathak dance style and Meera Sreenarayanan in the Bharata Natyam dance style.

Veteran Kathak danseuse and SNA awardee, Guru Uma Dogra is the ardent disciple of Pt Durgalal and is the founder director of Sam Ved Society of Performing Arts, actively involved in the promotion of classical performing arts for the past few decades. Every year two festivals are organised, Raindrops festival for young dancers,organised during the monsoon period and the Pt Durgalal Smruti Samaroh as tribute to the great Kathak maestro Pt Durgalal, who left all of us at an early age but was acknowledged to be among the best male Kathak dancers of the country.
Mumbai based Pooja Pant is an accomplished Kathak exponent and mentor, lauded for her vibrant and elegant Kathak performances. Along with her team of talented dancers, Pooja has performed in some of the most prestigious festivals in India. Meera Suryananrayanan is acknowledged as a sensitive dancer of high calibre and is founder director of Tatdhi Arts Academy, she is known for her performance in the National award winning Sanskrit film “Priyamanasam” and music video “Aliveni”. Meera hails from Guruvayur, Kerala and is presently seeking guidance from Guru Indira Kadambi and was awarded the Best Performer title by Music Academy in 2019.
