KalaKalp Sanskrutik Sansthan will present AROHAN 2026, a national-level competition featuring multiple Indian performing arts disciplines, on Sunday, 30 August 2026, at the Andhra Pradesh Bhawan Auditorium in New Delhi.
Open to participants from across India, the competition will include Indian classical dance, folk dance, yoga, Hindustani and Carnatic classical vocal music, instrumental music, and Vedic shloka recitation with interpretation. Participants may enter under sub-junior, junior, senior and open categories, wherever applicable. Solo, duet and group participation will be offered depending on the discipline.
Participant reporting and verification will take place from 8.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. The inaugural session is scheduled for 10 a.m., followed by the competitions from 10.30 a.m. onwards.
Performance and Evaluation
Each presentation will be allotted approximately five to eight minutes, depending on the discipline and participation category. Participants may use recorded accompaniment or perform with their own accompanying musicians, subject to the technical guidelines prescribed by the organisers.
According to the organising committee, participants will be assessed by a jury comprising performing artists, gurus, scholars and cultural experts. The evaluation criteria will be adapted to the respective disciplines and will include technical proficiency, rhythmic accuracy, artistic interpretation, stage presentation and overall performance quality.
In dance categories, attention will also be given to elements such as mudras, footwork, posture, bhava and discipline-appropriate costume, jewellery, hair and makeup.
Winners will receive trophies, certificates and merit recognitions. The organisers have also stated that exceptional performers may be considered for future performance opportunities, cultural collaborations and mentorship under KalaKalp initiatives.
Continuing the AROHAN Journey
AROHAN has previously been organised in both physical and digital formats. According to the organisers, the initiative has provided a platform to performers representing different schools and traditions of Indian performing arts.
Dr Atasi Misra, Founder of KalaKalp Sanskrutik Sansthan, described AROHAN as an effort to provide artists with opportunities to “learn, perform and grow” while encouraging younger generations to engage with the discipline and values embedded in India’s artistic traditions.
KalaKalp Sanskrutik Sansthan, the principal organiser of AROHAN, has been engaged in organising cultural festivals, competitions, workshops, seminars and heritage-related initiatives for nearly a decade.
The KalaKalp Cultural Research & Promotion Council is associated with AROHAN as its knowledge and strategic partner. Its areas of work include cultural research, documentation, policy dialogue, capacity building, academic collaboration, CSR partnerships and the promotion of India’s cultural heritage.
The Andhra Pradesh Bhawan, New Delhi, is providing its auditorium as the venue for the competition. AROHAN 2026 is being independently conceived, curated and organised by KalaKalp Sanskrutik Sansthan.
